 | Our Story
Hearing “You have breast cancer” changed our life. Our relationship was not even a year old and our lives were so busy. Gerry makes my heart sing everyday. I love him more every day. But I couldn’t burden him. He was free to go. Then, out of the gray haze and the muffled sounds I heard, “You’re not alone. I’m with you forever and we’ll beat this together.”
Deb is the love I‘ve waited for all my life. Nothing was going to take her away from me. We did everything together and we’d fight this together too. She would survive - we would survive. Life changed that day. Good health and happiness became our focus. We found our strength in family, friends and each other. Deb says “If you keep the spirit alive the body will follow.” Support , love and faith kept our spirit alive and the body did follow.
Many people go through this experience alone, without family and friends to turn to. BCSS gives support and comfort in a warm and nurturing environment. That is why on May 26th, 2003 proceeds from my concert will go to this outstanding organization. No one should have to face breast cancer alone.
